The Hardest-Working Floors in Your Building

Some floors take more abuse than any ordinary coating was built to handle. In a commercial kitchen, food plant, or brewery, the floor faces boiling water, hot grease, food acids, and high-pressure washdowns every single day, often swinging from steam-hot to cold within minutes. An ordinary epoxy floor cannot survive that for long. It blisters, peels, and breaks down, and once it starts to fail it becomes a sanitation problem and a safety hazard you cannot afford in a space that gets inspected.

A Floor Built for Heat, Water, and Constant Washdown

Cementitious urethane, also called urethane concrete or urethane mortar, is built for exactly these conditions. It is installed thick, like a mortar rather than a thin coating, so it shrugs off heavy impact from carts, pallets, and dropped equipment. It handles the thermal shock of steam cleaning and washdown without cracking, and it resists the food acids and grease that break down ordinary floors. It can be installed seamlessly, with an integral cove base where the floor meets the wall, so there are no gaps or joints for bacteria to hide in. The result is a floor that helps you meet the sanitation standards your facility is held to and stands up to daily washdown.

Slip resistance is commonly built into these systems, with a non-slip aggregate broadcast into the floor. We can design the texture to whatever level your space needs, so a wet, greasy kitchen floor stays safe to walk and work on.

Many of these systems cure fast enough to take traffic the same day, so we can often install on your schedule and have you back in production with minimal downtime.

Cementitious urethane is the right answer for the hottest, wettest, hardest-use floors. For other commercial spaces, we also install epoxy and resinous systems, fast-cure acrylic and MMA floors for spaces that cannot close, and polished and stained concrete for a finished architectural look.
